Welcome to Hamburg to our FEATS visitors from all over Europe!
For those wishing to have an enjoyable, affordable and sociable festival in May 2015 we would advise you to make your hotel reservations as early as possible.
Our recommendation: book early!
Hamburg is a very popular tourist destination and particularly over the Whit weekend hotel rooms will be sought after. For this reason we offer a combination of the traditional and modern - i.e. – we have options on rooms in hotels in close proximity to the theatre, or if you prefer you can book individually on portals such as www.booking.com or www.hrs.de.
Regarding the options, in these days of online booking portals we cannot guarantee that the prices quoted are the lowest available but we have been assured that they are competitive. If you decide to go for an individual solution the recommendation again is – please BOOK EARLY. We had real problems getting options on rooms because of the demand expected over the Whit weekend.
Altona, a lively part of Hamburg
The Altonaer Theater, the festival venue, will be the hub of our FEATS weekend and given Hamburg's liberal opening hours will offer groups ample opportunities for post-theatre socialising. Altona itself is a lively, attractive district of Hamburg on the River Elbe and for this reason we would recommend you book into hotels in or within easy reach of the theatre by public transport (which by the way is excellent in Hamburg).
The first three hotels with booking options are within easy walking distance (5-10 minutes max.) of the theatre and we will also recommend some others in the area – so that popping in to the theatre for a snack before the Fringe, to meet up and chat, or to be able to walk to your hotel after the FEATS party on Sunday will be very relaxed and easy.
Great public transport
At the same time, getting into the centre of Hamburg or to the harbour is absolutely no problem from Altona (approx. 15-20 minutes), which has excellent S-Bahn and bus connections. We will be posting information in due course re transportation on the FEATS 2015 website – over the Whit weekend trains and buses run throughout the night on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We will make sure you know what time last trains and buses are on Monday night.
